News & Information 2005 Illinois Tree Climbing Competition

The 2005 Illinois Arborist Association Tree Climbing Championship was held at Salt Creek Forest Preserve in Wood Dale, IL on September 10th. The Illinois Arborist Association is the Illinois chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture and the winner of the competition represents Illinois at the International Tree Climbing Competition. This year there were twenty-four men and two women competing. The competition consists of five separate events: work climb, belayed speed climb, secured foot lock, throw line, and aerial rescue. Brian placed 2nd in the work climb and 1st in the belayed speed climb. This helped him to place 4th overall. The top four individuals overall advanced to the masters challenge, where Brian placed 3rd. |
